Breaking Boundaries Foundation NPC (registration number 2026/410568/08) is a South African non-profit company. This policy applies to personal information collected through breakinboundaries.com and the forms published on it.

Silverbacks Ice Hockey Club is a Breaking Boundaries youth-development initiative that also operates its own website at silverbackshockey.co.za. Information you submit directly on the Silverbacks website is handled by Silverbacks club management.

We only collect what you choose to give us through a form or an email. That may include:

• Name and surname of the person enquiring.
• Email address, telephone number and preferred contact method.
• The category, subject and content of your enquiry or message.
• For programme enquiries: the participant's name, date of birth or age, gender, school or institution, and their skating, hockey and equipment experience.
• For participants under 18: the parent or legal guardian's name, relationship to the participant, email address and telephone number.
• For volunteer and partnership enquiries: the background, availability, skills or organisation details you supply.
• For concerns raised through a reporting form: the details you choose to provide, which may be submitted anonymously.

We do not require or request banking card details on this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child without a parent or guardian submitting it.

• To respond to your enquiry and route it to the correct team.
• To assess whether a programme is suitable for a participant and to discuss placement, trials and equipment.
• To communicate about participation, sessions, schedules and programme administration.
• To process volunteer applications and partnership or sponsorship discussions.
• To review and act on safeguarding, conduct or safety concerns.
• To keep proper records of donations and support offered to the foundation.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

So that your enquiry reaches the right people, submissions from this website are routed automatically according to the subject you select:

• Foundation, donation, volunteering, partnership, school-programme, media and general enquiries are sent to info@breakinboundaries.com.
• Silverbacks club enquiries — joining, registration, players, parents, training, schedules, equipment, teams, coaching, club sponsorship, rink and venue, and Silverbacks safety or conduct matters — are sent to info@silverbackshockey.co.za.

Breaking Boundaries Foundation and Silverbacks club management may share the information needed to answer your enquiry properly. You do not need to know which address to use — the form decides for you.

Access is limited to the Breaking Boundaries Foundation team members and Silverbacks club management who need it to respond to you or administer the relevant programme, and to the service providers that operate our website and email delivery on our behalf.

We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of a child or another person.

This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, form submissions are transmitted to our mailbox over an encrypted channel, and access to enquiry mailboxes is restricted to authorised team members.

No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we make no claim to hold any security certification or regulatory accreditation.

We keep personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law. When it is no longer needed, it is deleted or archived securely.

A formal, fixed retention schedule has not yet been adopted. When one is approved, it will be published on this page.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, or to delete it where we are not required to keep it.

Email info@breakinboundaries.com with your request and enough detail for us to identify your records. We will respond within a reasonable period. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Where a form relates to a participant under 18, it must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian, or by someone with the necessary authority to do so. That consent covers responding to the enquiry, assessing programme suitability, communicating about participation and administering the relevant programme.

A parent or guardian may withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@breakinboundaries.com or, for Silverbacks participants, info@silverbackshockey.co.za. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place, and may mean we can no longer administer the participant's involvement in a programme.

Photography and media consent is treated separately from the consent you give when you submit an enquiry. It is always optional, is never pre-selected on a form, and is confirmed before any image of a participant is used publicly.

You may withdraw media consent at any time by emailing info@breakinboundaries.com. We will stop using the material going forward, although we cannot always recall material that has already been printed or shared by third parties.

This website uses only the technical storage needed for the site to function. It does not run advertising trackers, and we do not build a profile of you across other websites.
